News Summary

Metro Detroit is set to experience a warming trend after a brief spell of snow showers. Following light flurries this weekend, milder temperatures and sunny skies are expected. Daylight Saving Time begins, signaling longer days ahead. As we transition into the workweek, temperatures could reach the 60s, inviting residents to embrace the warmth. While a midweek cooldown is anticipated, spring-like conditions will return by Thursday. This weather shift indicates a vibrant change as spring approaches, with above-average temperatures predicted in the coming weeks.

Warming Trend Begins in Metro Detroit After Brief Snow Showers This Weekend

As we dive deeper into March, Metro Detroit is gearing up for a delightful transformation in the weather. After a few minor snow showers this weekend, we can expect a shift to milder temperatures and sunny skies that will tickle your senses. Are you ready to pack away those winter coats? Let’s find out what’s in store for us!

Snow Showers Moving Out

On Saturday night, residents in parts of Southeast Michigan, especially around the Thumb area, may experience some light snow showers. If you’re in northern Metro Detroit, you might even see a few flurries drifting down. But don’t worry, after these fleeting flurries, things are looking brighter! As we move into the night, clouds will decrease, leading to mostly clear skies. Expect to cuddle up with temperatures around 30 degrees. Don’t forget to grab your jacket as those winds whip in a west-southwest direction at about 8 to 12 mph, gusting up to 20 mph.

Daylight Saving Time and Stunning Sunrise

Sunday marks a special day as Daylight Saving Time kicks in at 1:59 a.m., jumping forward to 3:00 a.m. So, if you have plans to enjoy the stunning sunrise at around 7:55 a.m., make sure your clocks are set! With mostly sunny skies on Sunday, we can expect delightful highs settling around an inviting 50 degrees. Enjoy the westerly and southwesterly winds at 10 to 15 mph with occasional gusts reaching 25 mph. What a perfect day to step outside and soak in the sun!

Warm Weather on the Horizon

The warmth doesn’t stop there! As we gear up for the workweek, warmer air is flowing into Southeast Michigan. Monday is forecasted to reach the splendid highs near 60 degrees under abundant sunshine. You’ll want your sunglasses handy! And as night rolls in, temperatures will drop to the lower to mid 40s, remaining comfortable for evening strolls.

Midweek Roller Coaster

Tuesday is expected to bring more warmth with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s—15 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. However, the evening will change up the game a bit, with mostly cloudy skies and lows dipping into the lower 30s. Wednesday might temper our excitement a little as temperatures are limited to the mid 40s to 50 degrees with lows in the mid 30s.

Spring-Like Temperatures Return

But don’t fret! Later in the week, temperatures will start climbing again with highs reaching the upper 50s to 60 degrees by Thursday. A few isolated rain showers might make an appearance on Thursday as well. Friday and Saturday follow suit under mostly cloudy weather while maintaining those sweet 60-degree temps!

Weekend Weather Snapshot

As we look ahead to the weekend, a weak front is anticipated. For those living mainly north of I-69, there’s a chance of flurries or light drizzle after 10 p.m. on Friday. A rain-snow mix is likely along and south of I-94, but don’t expect much accumulation. The weekend will still hold on to a mostly dry streak with a few moments of sunshine and the chance for a passing snow shower or wintry mix in the northern parts of Southeast Michigan.

Looking Forward

The Climate Prediction Center signals that we may be in for a treat with above-average temperatures for the next two weeks. So gear up, Metro Detroit! Spring is poking its head around the corner, inviting us to embrace the warmth and sunshine that we have been yearning for!
